Cycle to School Day

There was geat excitement in Ballyvolane this morning as many of our pupils prepared to cycle to school. The sun shone brightly as our intrepid cyclists gathered  by The Glen ready to take on the hill to school. All of our pupils came suitably attired and, of course, wearing their helmets. Many of our parents joined in the fun and it was a treat to see so many people enjoying some exercise early in the morning. As th cyclists reached the school gate they were welcomed by the junior classes who formed a guard of honour tho cheer the cyclists on.

Later in the day we held a Cycleathon and the children worked in relays to cycle 50km around the school grounds. Some children tried ‘spinning’ in the classroom. The atmosphere here in school today has been wonderful and we look forward to ‘Cycle to School Day’ becoming part of our school year from now on. Well done to the organising committee and to all those who helped out on the day.
