Engineers Week

During Engineers Week primary school children were invited to take the Engineering Challenge. This year’s class challenge was: Imagine you’re a structural/civil engineer. How would you build a tall structure from your given resources?
The children of second class never pass up a challenge so they were very eager to become involved. They worked together in teams to build a tall structure using limited resources. They learned that engineers use problem solving skills, creativity and imagination to help solve the problems in the world around us.
Here are some of the children’s attempts. The tallest structure reached as high as 51cm !!
