Grandparents Day is always one of the highlights of the school year and today was no exception. The children have been eagerly preparing to welcome their very special guests and there was great excitement today as all the grannies and grandads made their way into the school. They were greeted with a welcome ‘cuppa’, provided by our wonderful Friends of Scoil Oilibhéir, following which they were treated to a fantastic concert. The children sang some old favourites including The Doggie in the Window and Jamaica Farewell. Our guests then accompanied their granchildren back to the classrooms where they had an opportunity to share some of their own experiences of school. They also had the chance to view some artwork, to ask questions and, of course, to take some photographs. We ended the visit by releasing some balloons to remember those grandparents who could not be with us today. Míle Buíochas to all those who visited us today and a special word of thanks to the Friends of Scoil Oilibhéir who are always available to give us a helping hand.
