Book fair 2012

Preparatbook_fair.gif.jpgions are in full swing for our annual Book Fair which takes place in Halla Oilibhéir on Wednesday next the 8th of February. The Book Fair is always a special day in our school. At present the children are working hard on their book projects for the display in the Halla. Some of our younger children will perform for our guests on the day and they can be heard practising diligently every day. All of the children in our school will get an opportunity to take part in a drama work shop during next week as part of our  annual Book Fair.

It is a very pleasant occasion and we encourage all parents to visit the school to view the projects and  hopefully to buy one of the books on display, which they then donate to the school. There will be complementary tea and coffee provided by the Friends of Scoil Oilibhéir all day. Preschool children are welcome to have their faces painted anytime after 11.00am.

Since Scoil Oilibhéir opened in 1983 the development of our literacy programme has always been a priority here. The Annual Book Fair has been a great source of quality reading materials for our pupils. Scoil Oilibhéir has a record second to none when it comes to encouraging our children to read. We have a long history of taking part in CAPER and silent reading projects. All of the children in the third classes are benefitting from the introduction of a Peer Tutoring initiative during the second term. In recent years we are piloting a programme in comprehension in association with Mary Immaculate College of Education.

The Book Fair has always been instrumental in providing reading materials for our pupils. We urge you to support this event and hope that you will enjoy your visit to our school.
