The Lord Mayor of Cork, Mr. John Sheehan and his lovely wife Mrs. Aedamar Sheehan came to visit us in school today. Following a wonderful speech by the President of the Student Council Craig O Sullivan, Mr Sheehan spoke to the boys and girls of Scoil Oilibhéir. He answered their many questions about his job as The Lord Mayor of Cork. He then presented Mr O Brien with a photo of two previous Lord Mayors, who are a very important part of our history here in Cork. Terence Mac Swiney and Tomás Mac Curtain are names mentioned regularly in history lessons throughout the school, so to say we were delighted with the gift was an understatement. The Lord Mayors visit was finished with a roof raising rendition of Amhráin Oilibhéir, led by Mr Ryng!
