Tír na Sí

Today saw the long awaited opening of our new school library, Tír na Sí…. and what a day it was! Children and staff drew out all the stops and dressed up as their favourite characters from books so there was many a Harry Potter, Wally, Cinderella, Red Riding Hood (to name but a few!) to be seen in the classrooms this morning.

Our invited guests joined us in the Halla, where Mrs Cronin told us  how the library was set up, and they were entertained by our school choir and the children of Ms Barry Murphy’s class. As the children sang our school song the guests and our school librarians made their way to Tír na Sí for the official unveiling of the plaque. The guests were then shown into the library where Mr. O’Brien presented our librarians with their library pins. Some of very talented pupils showed them their artwork and read poems which thet had written themselves.

All in all it was a wonderful day and huge credit goes to all involved in the setting up of such a valuable school resource. Mrs Cronin deserves special mention as she has spent many hours planning and organising so that this day could be a very special one. The library is stocked with books of every kind and we know that our children will benefit for years to come.
