Virtual Sports For All Day in Scoil Oilibhéir

Sports For All Day is usually one of the highlights for many children in the school. Unfortunately, this year, we cannot organise our Sports Day as we would usually do. Instead, we have organised a Virtual Sports For All Day and we hope that the children will take part and enjoy their day at home with their family. Weather pending, Virtual Sports For All Day will take place on Tuesday June 23rd.

The plan for Virtual Sports For All Day is as follows:

· Equipment: The activities chosen require little specialised equipment. We are suggesting that the children could come up with alternatives to some of the equipment if it isn’t at home, for example colour paper plates could be used instead of cones, rolled up socks instead of beanbags. If they don’t have the correct equipment for a particular activity, chose a different activity!

· Activities: We have included a link to many activities that we feel are suitable for the children. There are at least 3 activities under each heading. They are all based on activities and games from “Move Well, Move Often” programme which we use extensively in PE in school. The link includes details of the activities along with videos on how the games are played. We are hoping that each child would try at least 3 of the activities. If the activity is too easy or too difficult, the children could try a different one! They are also free to make up their own activities!

· Activities Link: https://sites.google.com/holyangelsns.ie/virtualsportsday/the-activities?authuser=0

· Home/School Link: It would be great if siblings, parents or guardians would take part in the games themselves!

· Video: We are hoping that a photo, or short (10 second max) video clip of the child taking part in any activity could be sent to

sportsday2020so@gmail.com.

We will then compile these photos or clips into a video for the website.

Thanking you all for your co-operation and wishing everyone a fun filled active day!
